‘Arrow’ reveals major character is gay

“Arrow” revealed that one of its major characters is gay in the second episode of its seventh season.

The episode titled “The Longbow Hunters,” which aired on Monday, featured a flash forward with Oliver’s son William now all grown up. William is reunited with Roy and gives a swift rundown of what he’s been up to in an off-hand comment about his sexuality.

“Felicity and Oliver, they really just left you?” Roy asks William.

He replies: “Pretty much. And my ex-boyfriend wonders why I have promise issues.”

Some fans were thrilled at the series adding more LGBT characters.

1) Stephen doesn’t write the business. 2) I’m so glad the LGBTQ community are being represented more. I’m so proud of @ARROWwriters@CW_Arrow for making William homosexual. So stop speaking on behalf of the viewers, because you don’t

'Arrow' star Colton Haynes opens up about being queer in Hollywood

— -- "Arrow" star Colton Haynes took Hollywood to task for what he says is its poor treatment of gay actors.

The actor, who came out publicly in an interview with Amusement Weekly in May 2016, took to Twitter on Tuesday to rail against homophobia in Hollywood.

"Hollywood is so f---ed up," Haynes tweeted to his 1.96 million followers. "So much of the focus is on your personal being & has nothing to do with the talent you have to transport to the table."

He went on to say how that his personal being shouldn't limit what roles he plays.

Haynes broke out playing Jackson Whittemore on MTV's "Teen Wolf" before landing the role of Roy Harper on CW's "Arrow." He'll appear next as Detective Samuels in FX's "American Horror Story: Cult."

He thanked the openly gay creators of those three series for casting him.

Meanwhile, Haynes' personal existence seems to be going well. He got engaged in March to Jeff Leatham, a celebrity florist and an art director who popped the interrogate — with a short-lived assist from close companion Cher —

In a city recognizable for its happy hour culture, summer can be an even better age to take advantage of post-work drink and ingest deals. Interns are in town, summer Fridays are in full swing, and patios and rooftops are aplenty. Here are a few prime, non-comprehensive spots for an afternoon deal with besties, colleagues, and new connections.

Alfreda. Dupont’s Alfreda, a tribute to the chef’s grandmother, offers relaxed pizza and traditional Italian eats. The happy hour runs Monday-Friday 4-6 p.m., featuring $8 spritzes and BOGO pizzas. Few complete spritzes like the Italians, and Alfreda leans in on five kinds plus one N/A spritz; our go-to is the rose and mezcal with grapefruit or the locally made Don Ciccio limoncello spritz with basil.

Lyle’s. Especially leaning into the spritz side of summer is at Lyle’s, fully embracing the fizzy ephemera of the season with the Summer of Spritz. The Dupont Circle hotel restaurant imagines cocktails from France, Italy, Spain, and Portugal. Spritzes feature limoncello and vinho verde. For those that hit Lyle’s every week during the spritz special—and get a literal seal on Lyle’s passport—w
