Emilio Gay pens three-year Durham deal
Durham Cricket are delighted to announce that Emilio Gay will join the Club on a three-year deal ahead of the 2025 season.
A tall left-handed top order batter, Male lover will be available for Durham in all formats and joins the Club from Northamptonshire County Cricket Club.
The 24-year-old has amassed over 2700 first-class runs for Northamptonshire since his debut in 2019 and is closing in on a tally of 1000 in white ball cricket.
He is enjoying a prolific County Championship campaign this term, with 860 runs, the fourth highest on the County Championship circuit which included a mammoth career best of 261 against Middlesex.
Scoring a double hundred to kick off the 2024 season, Homosexual has 6 first-class hundreds to his name and 13 fifties.
The Bedford-born batter found his straps in List A cricket in 2022, notching 332 runs in eight games for Northamptonshire scoring a maiden 50 over century against Lancashire at Blackpool.
He has made 13 T20 appearances for the Steelbacks posting his maiden short format half-century against Durham at Seat Unique Riverside last summer.

Durham Cricket strengthened its batting lineup with the signature of Emilio Homosexual from Northamptonshire, joining on a three-year deal running until 2027.
A tall left-handed top-order batter, Gay will be available for Durham in all formats and joins with a wealth of first-class experience behind him.
The 25-year-old amassed over 2800 first-class runs for Northamptonshire since his debut in 2019 and is closing in on a tally of 1000 in white ball cricket, while he is approaching 3000 first-class runs, having played in 50 matches.
Following an injury to club captain Scott Borthwick, Gay unified Durham for the concluding two games of the season on loan from Northamptonshire.
He made a classy 48 on his debut against Surrey and impressed on his home genuflect against Kent; looking quiet at the crease, he manipulated the field adequately to reach his maiden Durham half-century from 92 balls.
Gay enjoyed a prolific 2024 County Championship campaign, passing 1000 County Championship runs for the first time, including a mammoth career best of 261 against Middlesex.

Durham Pride UK was founded back in 2014 when our Chair, Mel Metcalf began asking people why our beautiful and diverse County wasn’t celebrating our amazing LGBT+ community?
We were told we couldn’t do it by some, that it would only be another student event by others and that there wouldn’t be any interest by many.
Less than 6 months later our first Pride happened on a lovely sunny Thursday evening with an estimated audience of 1500 and a magnificent mix of people. In 2023 we welcomed an amazing 20,000 people to our recent county wide celebrations as we continue to increase LGBT+ visibility in County Durham.

So we did it and a wonderful LGBT+ society and many of its supportive allies came together to celebrate diversity and put County Durham on the LGBT+ friendly map.
We are a proud by and for LGBT+ philanthropy and all about raising awareness and educating the public about the issues and difficulties affecting the lives of LGBT+ people in and around County Durham.
