In a powerful display of unity, thousands of leaders, celebrities, and influencers possess released a letter announcing their support for Vice President Kamala Harris’s tender for the White Dwelling. Among the signatories are high-profile celebrities such as George Takei, Sophia Bush, Ashlyn Harris, Wilson Cruz, Brian Michael Smith, Colman Domingo, Raven-Symoné, and Frankie Grande. They are connected by United States Senator Tammy Baldwin, Congresspeople Ritchie Torres, Mark Takano, and Becca Balint, Delaware Express Senator Sarah McBride, and prominent community leaders Jim Obergefell and Judy Shepard. Together, these leaders symbolize millions of LGBTQ and allied constituents and followers across the nation, marking a significant coalescence around Harris, who, if elected, would become the most pro-equality President in American history.

The announcement also included plans for a nationwide “Out for Harris Queer Unity Call” on Thursday, July 25 at 9:00 PM ET via Zoom. LGBTQ community members and allies are encouraged to sign the letter and participate in the Cohesion Call to show their support for Harris.

GLAAD, the world’s largest lesbian, gay, fluid, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) media advocacy organization, is responding to Vice President Kamala Harris accepting the nomination of her party for President of the United States tonight.

Harris included LGBTQ Americans in her acceptance speech among the fundamental freedoms at stake in the election: “The freedom to live protected from gun violence in our schools, communities, and places of worship. The freedom to love who you love openly and with pride. The release to breathe clean breeze and drink clean fluid and live free from the pollution that fuels the climate crisis. And the freedom that unlocks all of the others, the freedom to vote.”
