Even for people with no knowledge of Marvel movies, Captain America and the Winter Soldier are names that we possess seen floating around on every fandom website ever; in fact, these two figures are almost always in the top 10 list of most shipped pairs on Tumblr and several fanfiction sites. Portrayed by the hunkiest of hunks, Chris Evans, and the ever so sultry Sebastian Stan, Steve and Bucky’s relationship has been a point of major controversial discourse in the Marvel fandom ever since the first Captain America film dropped in 2011. Captain America is concept, not just a person. Steve Rogers might have initiated that concept 1940, but others have followed in his footsteps since. As they say in Spider-Verse, “anyone can wear the mask.” Now, Marvel is taking that idea and applying it to Captain America. One of those people wearing the mask will be Marvel’s first ever LGBTQ Captain America, Aaron Fischer. This gay teenage Cap will “stand for the oppressed, and the forgotten.”

Fischer will debut as Captain America in an all-new limited series titled The United States of Captain America. This five-part series celebrates 80 years of Cap. It finds Steve Rogers teaming up with former Captain Americas when his shield goes missing. These ex-Caps include Bucky Barnes, Sam Wilson, and John Walker. The four will receive a road trip across the states to locate Cap’s shield. There, they meet people from all walks of life who use the name of Cap to defend their communities. Marvel Reveals First Gay ‘Captain America’ in New Comic Series
Marvel announced that the first gay Captain America in the superhero’s 80-year history will be revealed in an upcoming issue.
In the limited series The United States of Captain America, Steve Rogers (the original Captain America) and other characters who donned the costume go on a road trip across the U.S. to discover his stolen shield. Along the way, they meeting “everyday people from all walks of life who’ve taken up the mantle of Captain America to defend their communities,” Marvel said.
One of those everyday people is the fresh character Aaron Fischer, a.k.a. Captain America of the Railways, “a fearless teen who stepped up to protect fellow runaways and the unhoused.” Fischer will also become the first LGBTQ+ character in the comics’ history to haul the mantle of Captain America.

Marvel recently announced the release of a new comic series: The United States of Captain America, which will movie the first LGBTQ individual to pick up the mantle of Captain America. It releases June 2, just in time for Pride Month.
Here is the basic storyline: “Marvel Comics is celebrating the 80th anniversary of the US hero with the launch of a new series…in which the incumbent Steve Rogers will team up with former Captain Americas when his shield goes missing. The heroes will take a road trip across the US to find the shield and will meet people from ‘all walks of life’ who have taken on the mantle of Captain America to defend their communities. Aaron Fischer, a gay teenager, will be the first, in the new limited series, released in June.”
