Is justin timberlake gay
Confession: I've been gay all 28, going on 29 years of my life.
Another confession: I've never, not once, ever heard anyone refer to Justin Timberlake as an ally of the LGTBQ community.
Welp, that changed this week when, during an interview promoting his new film Palmer, Justin was asked why he feels it's crucial for him to be an ally of the gheighs.
“Thank you for saying that. I very much enjoy being an ally, and it’s a accurate honor anytime someone addresses me that way," Justin told GLAAD.
I wasn't the only one left scratching my head. Gay Twitter had a field evening with his proclamation, especially considering the "Holy Grail" singer isn't the first person who comes to mind when you believe of LGBTQ allies.
"I necessitate receipts to show what [Justin] actually has done to be an ally for the LGBTQ community," another wrote.
The memes were spot on, because same-sex attracted people are funny, duh:
So, in conclusion Justin, the gays have spoken and this is what they have to say:
Justin, maybe in your next interview you could share how you've been an ally for the LGBTQ people, and that would distinct this whole mess up. K, bye.
Justin Timberlake’s Queer ‘allyship’ strips ally of its meaning
Apparently, Justin Timberlake is a Queer ally—who knew?
Last week, during an interview for his upcoming film Palmer, Timberlake was asked why it’s important for him to be an outspoken advocate for the LGBTQIA2S+ community, to which he replied: “Thank you for saying that. I very much enjoy being an ally, and it’s a true honour anytime someone addresses me that way.”
Parts of the Queer society, on the other hand, feel differently about Timberlake’s apparent status as a Queer ally.
After the quote began picking up traction online, my Twitter timeline was flooded with Tweets balancing humour with sincere frustration over Timberlake’s comment. The general consensus seemed to be sincere confusion: since when is Justin an ally?
This isn’t the first time Timberlake has made headlines related to being an LGBTQIA2S+ ally; in 2015, he and his wife, Jessica Biel, were the recipients of the Gay, Lesbian, & Straight Education Network’s (GLSEN) Inspiration Award for their commitment to Queer advocacy.
But the fact that so many exasperated Queer people on Twitter hadn’t heard of this advocacy speaks volumes about the
I thought Timberlake was gay: Bass
Former 'N Sync member Lance Bass said he thought Justin Timberlake was gay because the singer told the group he wanted do to a homosexual role in a movie.
In the November issue of GQ magazine, the now openly-gay Bass said he consideration both Timberlake — currently on tour in Australia — and fellow band member Chris Kirkpatrick were gay.
"We reflection Justin was gay because he told us he wanted to do a gay part in a movie"¦We thought Chris was gay because he used to hang out with a choreographer," Bass said.
Kirkpatrick told the magazine that he didn't mind Bass' assumption about his sexuality.
"I think it's awesome that Lance thought I was gay while we were in the band together," Kirkpatrick said.
"He's been going through a lot after coming out, and we respect that and give him his space."
Bass revealed he was gay and in a relationship with a former star of a US reality TV show last year.
The 28-year-old told the US edition of People magazine he had kept his homosexuality a classified because he did not want to hurt 'N Sync's popularity
Justin Timberlake: Singing at Lgbtq+ Wedding?
The former boy-band crooner is totally in sync with New York becoming the latest state to legalize gay marriage.
"I was stoked that that happened," Timberlake tells writer Jeremy Kinser in gay magazine The Advocate. "I ponder it's just...we're people and we're different, all of us. And we should be using our differences to bring ourselves closer together. You know? Not be afraid of something that we don't know."
In other words, Timberlake may be straight, but he's certainly not narrow. "I have a lot of guy friends who are gay," he said. "Two of my best friends are a couple, and my conversation with them is, like, it's unfortunate that things take a while to progress appreciate this, but it was a great great victory for equality. I'm haughty New York has the balls to stand up for what's right."
He also said of his homosexual loving pals, "I'm a straight male who has male friends who are gay. We don't contain any problem communicating. We don't have any difficulty being two guy friends regardless of our difference in sexual orientation."
